Lyra - In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the lyre of Orpheus. Made by Hermes from a tortoise shell, given to Apollo as a bargain, it was said to be the first lyre ever produced. Orpheus's music was said to be so great that even inanimate objects such as trees, streams, and rocks could be charmed.
You'll create this charming necklace using several techniques including Peyote, Modified Netting and heavily Modified Right Angle Weave. Or you may choose to create just the pendant portion and let it hang gracefully from a silk ribbon or chain.
You should have an ability to work with size 15° seed beads.

One day class - Intermediate to Advanced
Prerequisites - must be proficient in CRAW (Cubic Right Angle Weave)
It is not a secret that I am fascinated by ancient mosaics, frescoes, and architecture from the Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance Eras. The dome in Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence – designed by Filippo Brunelleschi during the beginning of the Renaissance. The work began in 1420 and completed in 1436.
Santa Mario del Fiore Lariat is inspired by the dome of the Cathedral in Florence. The lariat is made with Peyote Stitch, Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW), and Chenille Stitch. It focuses on combining the stitches and how to switch from one
to the other as the project requires. Last summer, I purchased some lovely silk tassels from Morocco. I wanted to use them in a special project. The Chenille Stitch “Chain” is inspired by the detailed ropes found in Cathedrals. The cupola is
a “tassel cover” made with CRAW and peyote.
The lariat is approximately 20 inches long with high quality Cubic Zirconias, Glass Pearls. A shorter and smaller version will also be available as a kit.
