A Celebration of the Day of the Dead: A Workshop in Nicho Adornment and Moldmaking

This class will introduce you how to make molds, usable by many materials. In consideration of ’The Day of The Dead’  and the timing of our workshop I am proposing a gathering of objects that appeal to you and represent what you hold dear or sacred. In the end you will have a wall piece with a couple of magnetic brooches to wear and house in your beautiful and thoughtfully presented Nicho!

And then….we will make molds of a couple of your choices for fitting into your Nicho and representing your thoughts. If you ‘bring’ several objects to class we will talk about what works for mold making and why.

Kit is mandatory and available diredtly from the instructor $50 + shipping

Kit will contain: 4 oz.Paper Clay, Nicho box, headpins, magnets, mold making material , gold foil and is mandatory. $50  

****Kits would need to be ordered 2 weeks in advance to allow for shipping time.

Students will need to supply: Adhesives, both Tacky glue and two part epoxy or E6000. Toothpicks to stir epoxy, a brush for Tacky Glue. A hot plate or toaster oven to dry Paper Clay, 12 round beads that you will sew together as a beaded bead, thread, needle. A non absorbent surface, i.e. silicon, cookie sheet, cutting board. Two pair of pliers, round and chain nose. Scissors.Paint, either acrylic or a waterbased or alcohol based pigment. If you use anything other than an acrylic you will need to seal with an acrylic medium.

Class space is confirmed upon receipt of payment. There are no class refunds unless the class is canceled by SocialBeadia.  If you need to cancel, you may transfer your spot to another student, or you will receive all instructional materials and the option to purchase a kit if available.
