Keeper of the Stars

Inspired by the song that was the first dance at my late sister and brother-in-law’s wedding, “The Keeper of the Stars,” this Art Deco-style necklace is a nod to the 1920s and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.  I designed this piece to honor them and the love they shared. The song speaks of the blessings we receive from the universe that brings love into our lives which is represented by the sparkling arch embracing the custom-coated, pear-shaped German glass cabochon. The archway is embellished with precious metal-plated cupchain and 28 pearls representing the 28 days of the lunar calendar. Within the carved glass of the cabochon is a picture of a kaleidoscopic field of shooting stars encrusted with Swarovski crystals. The fringe at the bottom of the focal swings like a flapper’s dress, reminding us to dance through our lives, savoring each moment with those we love.

In addition to the beautiful sparkling elements in the focal and arch, there is a mix of over 100 Swarovski, Preciosa, and Austrian crystals and pearls that sparkle like stars in the night sky. A mix of precious metal plated seed beads and iridescent drop beads surround each of these crystals.

Stitches used: RAW, CRAW, netting, Russian spiral, herringbone, Albion, and peyote

Prerequisite: CRAW, RAW, peyote

To attend this event, you will need either a desktop, laptop, or tablet along with the Zoom Application which can easily be downloaded for either Windows, Apple, or Android devices, and a good internet connection.  After registering and paying for your class, you will be sent a link to the online class the week of the workshop.
