Anne, newly returned from the court of France, was famous for her beauty and glamourous French fashion. She caught the eye of Henry VIII who courted her as his mistress. However, Anne held out for the ultimate prize, to be his Queen. So enamored with Anne was Henry that he broke with the Catholic church and divorced his first wife, Katherine of Aragon, so he may marry Anne.
