Birdcage Necklace

Inspired by a small pair of birdcage earrings I wore as a young bride, Birdcage Necklace is a 3- dimensional beaded version featuring a small lampwork bird perched at the entrance of an open cage, ready to fly free anytime. I have always loved birdcages and when I was little, I loved watching colorful birds inside, singing away. Over time, I disliked seeing birds in cages, because they are confined in an unnatural habitat, representing a loss of freedom. In this Birdcage Necklace, the birdcage has no door, it is more like a place for birds to visit and perch.

The pendant is sturdy and trimmed with glittering Swarovski or Preciosa channel set dangles, featuring an openwork design for the cage with seed beads, bugle beads, and small pearls. It hangs from a matching beaded rope.

Length of Rope: 30” long Pendant: 3” long x1 1/8” wide

Techniques: Cubic Right Angle Weave, circular peyote, and embellishment stitches.

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Pre-requisites:  Must be very comfortable with CRAW. Included stitches will not be taught in class

Kits are mandatory and may be purchased from the instructor for $120 + shipping.  Kits will be available in at least 4 colors. Birds will be in green, red, white, blue and yellow.  All materials, including a fully illustrated paper pattern will be included in class kits.

To attend this event, you will need either a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone along with the Zoom Application which can easily be downloaded for either Windows, Apple, or Android devices, and an internet connection.  After registering and paying for your class, you will be sent a link to the class the week of the workshop.

Class space is confirmed upon receipt of payment. There are no class refunds unless SocialBeadia cancels the class.  If you need to cancel, you may transfer your spot to another student, or you will receive all instructional materials and the option to purchase a kit if available.
