Lisa Ballowe

Bead Embroidery

Lisa Ballowe says she has always been creative and started in kindergarten, where her mom said she had to make her something every day before school.  Her love of needle and thread started with Embroidery and German Hardanger work. She is self-taught in freeform peyote and bead embroidery. She asked her husband for classes with Sherry Serafini for her 50th birthday present and she has been hooked ever since. For the past 10 years, she has been studying with Sherry and other talented teachers and found she has a passion to design her own work. In addition to winning awards at local Art Shows, Lisa’s “Busy Bees” necklace was a Finalist in the International BeadDreams contest in 2019 at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee, WI. She has been teaching locally and has been designing and selling her bead embroidery kits ever since.  Lisa lives in the Buffalo, NY suburbs with her husband Dean, and has 2 grown sons, Lucas and Marcus.
