Kephri

Embrace the spirit of ancient Egypt with this dramatic pendant that uses a combination of stitches, including  right-angle weave, and incorporates Czech glass beads and sparkling Swarovski crystals. The finished piece is hung on a chenille beaded rope -instructions for this are included but you can choose to hang it on a cord or chain if you prefer! This project was inspired by the ancient Gods of Egypt and represents creative cycles. Khepri was the God of the rising sun and was depicted often as a scarab holding aloft the morning sun. He was seen as subordinate to the greater sun god Ra. The Eye of Ra was a goddess and was an extension of Ra’s power - she was his consort

Techniques:  uses a combination of stitches, including right angle weave

Skill level: This class is suitable for intermediate/advanced beaders

Materials: 

• 88 x 3mm faceted fire polish beads
• Approx. 2-3g x size 11 Japanese seed beads
• Approx. 1-2g x size 15 Japanese seed beads in colour 1
• Approx. 1-2g x size 15 Japanese seed beads in colour 2
• 1 x 30mm x 22mm Swarovski 4127 oval fancy stone or 30mm x 20mm Chinese Oval
• 6 x Super 8 or MiniDuo beads
• 32 x Dagger beads (5mm x 15mm)
• 1 x 12mm Swarovski 5728 Scarab bead - or rivoli/similar sized-bead
• 1 x 10mm or 12mm pearl
• 5 x 6mm round glass Druks or pearls
• 1 x TierraCast Eye Charm (optional) or drop bead/tassel

For chenille rope (optional):

• Approx. 15g x size 11 Japanese seed beads in colour 1 (I used Toho Permafinish)
• Approx. 6g x size 11 Japanese seed beads in colour 2
• 2 x 11mm or 13mm end caps (approx.) 
• Clasp of your choice
• 0.4mm wire (optional depending on the choice of the end cap) or E6000 glue

TOOLS AND THREAD:

• Size 12 and size 15 beading needle
• Toning beading thread (eg One-G, Miyuki, KO) You can also use Fireline if you prefer.
• Scissors
• Wax

Kits are NOT available - Supplies required are listed above.

To attend this event, you will need a laptop or tablet along with the Zoom Application which can easily be downloaded for either Windows, Apple, or Android devices, and an internet connection.  After registering and paying for your class, you will be sent a link to the class the week of the workshop.

Class space is confirmed upon receipt of payment. There are no class refunds unless the class is canceled by SocialBeadia.  If you need to cancel, you may transfer your spot to another student, or you will receive all instructional materials and the option to purchase a kit if available.
