Laura Embrey
Specialty - Bead Weaving
Laura Embrey is a talented beadwork artist and designer based in Cheshire, UK, known for creating stunning jewelry for competitions as well as designs for tutorials and classes. With a deep love for all things sparkly, her work is characterized by dazzling crystals and intricately woven seed bead patterns that capture both elegance and artistry.
Laura’s passion for beading began at just 12 years old, when she discovered her first jewelry magazine—a moment that sparked a lifelong creative journey. Over the years, she has developed an impressive and versatile skill set, which she now channels into designing tutorials for Beadingschool by Erika Sandor and her Etsy shop. Dedicated to sharing her knowledge, Laura takes great joy in teaching and inspiring fellow beaders through her beautifully crafted classes.
Her artistry has earned widespread recognition in the beadwork community. Laura was honored as the winner of the Battle of the Beadsmith Competition 2025, following her achievement as runner-up in the Battle of the Beadsmith Earrings Competition 2023 and her selection as a semifinalist in the 2024 main Battle. She has also received third prize twice in the Fire Mountain Gems Jewelry Making Contest and won the Jewelry Category in the Museum of Beadwork Challenge, where her work has been exhibited. In addition, Laura’s designs have been showcased internationally, including exhibitions in Japan.

Fantasia Live Virtual Zoom Workshop August 29, 2026, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM EST
We are delighted to welcome Laura Embrey to SocialBeadia for this inspiring and elegant workshop. The Fantasia Necklace is a dazzling, crystal-rich design that blends intricate beadwork with artistic expression, resulting in a piece that is both sophisticated and striking.
One of the joys of this project is how the individual components can be adapted, giving you inspiration and techniques that can be used in many future designs.
Inspired by Ralph Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, this necklace evolves beautifully—just like a musical fantasia—one element at a time. As you create each component, the design gradually comes together into a bold, harmonious statement piece. The deep, luminous crystals echo the rich rhythms and emotional depth of the music that inspired it.
