Birdcage Necklace

Inspired by a small pair of birdcage earrings I wore as a young bride, Birdcage Necklace is a 3-dimensional beaded version featuring a small lampwork bird perched at the entrance of an open cage, ready to fly free anytime. I have always loved birdcages, and when I was little, I loved watching colorful birds inside, singing away. Over time, I disliked seeing birds in cages because they are confined in an unnatural habitat, representing a loss of freedom. In this Birdcage Necklace, the birdcage has no door, it is more like a place for birds to visit and perch.

The pendant is sturdy and trimmed with glittering Swarovski or Preciosa channel set dangles, featuring an openwork design for the cage with seed beads, bugle beads, and small pearls. It hangs from a matching beaded rope.
