Kata used a cinnabar cabochon with a dragon and phoenix for the Chinese project of

my 3C collection.  

The dragon and the phoenix hold significant roles in Chinese culture, representing two powerful and contrasting forces.

The dragon, known as "long" in Chinese, is revered as a symbol of power, strength, and good fortune. It is associated with the emperor, representing imperial authority and divine protection. Dragons are believed to control the weather, bringing rain for bountiful harvests. They are also associated with water and believed to reside in rivers, lakes, and seas, and are revered as guardians of these bodies of water.

Dragons are depicted as majestic creatures with serpentine bodies, sharp claws, and horns.  They are often depicted with a pearl, representing wisdom and spiritual essence.  

On the other hand, the phoenix, known as "Fenghuang" in Chinese, symbolizes harmony, peace, and prosperity. It represents the empress and feminine power.

The phoenix is associated with fire and is believed to be a harbinger of good fortune and renewal.  It is often depicted with vibrant plumage and a graceful appearance.

The dragon and phoenix are frequently portrayed together as a symbol of unity and balance. Their union signifies the harmonious blending of yin and yang, representing the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energies.  In Chinese mythology, the dragon and phoenix are often seen as a celestial couple, symbolizing marital bliss, fertility, and the creation of new life.

The dragon and phoenix motifs are commonly found in traditional Chinese art, architecture, and textiles. They are popular designs for auspicious occasions like weddings, representing a harmonious and prosperous union.  In Chinese culture, the dragon and phoenix are deeply embedded in the collective consciousness, and their presence is often associated with good luck, fortune, and positive energies.

Overall, the dragon and phoenix hold a revered place in Chinese culture, embodying power, harmony, and the cyclical nature of life.  Their symbolism continues to be cherished and celebrated as an integral part of the rich Chinese heritage.

The kit is mandatory and included in the class fee.  It is made and shipped to the US by the instructor and sold on her behalf on the SocialBeadia website.  Class price includes shipping to USA addresses.  International shipments will be charged additional fees based on the actual cost.

To attend this event, you will need a desktop, laptop, or tablet along with the Zoom Application which can easily be downloaded for either Windows, Apple, or Android devices, and a good internet connection.  After registering and paying for your class, you will be sent a link to the online class the week of the workshop.

Class space is confirmed upon receipt of payment. There are no class refunds unless SocialBeadia cancels the class.  If you need to cancel, you may transfer your spot to another student, or you will receive all instructional materials and the option to purchase a kit if available.
